There has been a lot of talk in the industry recently about the cabling in buildings being as a potential major risk of fire and smoke. Fire can rapidly spread through a building via the data cables and its routing, which has prompted a review of the original Construction Products Directive.
The new CPR (Construction Products Regulation), mandatory as of 1st July 2017, introduced new fire safety classifications and requires that all cabling sold after 01.07.2017 carries a CE mark and be provided with a DoP (Declaration of Performance) certificate, with the intention of saving lives and protecting buildings in the event of a fire.
For further insights into specific areas of CPR, you can watch our Excel Explains series of webinars from our technical manager, Paul Cave. Paul delves into each of the sub-classes in more detail, and this series will continue to evolve alongside further CPR developments to provide you with the latest information.
